BETTIE HODGES
Bettie Hodges is the
President of Hodges Consulting Group, a consultancy firm that
provides planning, program development, documentation and
evaluation services to nonprofit and philanthropic organizations
engaged in community economic development, cultural promotion,
community building and other efforts that empower communities of
color. Formerly employed by the Marin Community Foundation as a
Program Officer for Community Development, Ms. Hodges has been
engaged in the philanthropic sector for over 20 years. Her past
and current clients include the William and Flora Hewlett
Foundation, the Marguerite Casey Foundation, the National Rural
Funders Collaborative, National Community Development Institute,
Mississippi Action for Community Education, Bay Area Blacks in
Philanthropy, and the San Francisco Foundation. Her other
philanthropic affiliations include the Association for Black
Foundation Executives, Neighborhood Funders Group,
Self-Development of People Committee of the United Presbyterian
Church and Project IMPACT – a male responsibility program for
incarcerated inmates.
Formerly a teacher and
librarian, Ms. Hodges received her undergraduate and graduate
education from the University of California, Berkeley. She has
received fellowships from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology and the Congressional Black Caucus in Washington, D.
C., served as editor of the Congressional Black Caucus magazine,
Point of View, and been staff to the Employment and Housing
Subcommittee of Government Operations chaired by Congressman
Barney Frank. Bettie was a founder and Interim Executive
Director of the Marin City Community Development Corporation,
and in 2004, organized the Hannah Project, a college preparatory
program for Marin City teens. An avid sports fan, she loves
baseball and is a loyal fan of the San Francisco Giants.
